Special

Sydney is a special person.
Every child is special--most especially to their parents.
My Sydney is feisty and temperamental and very emotional, but she is special. And not just to me. She was a gift given to all of us after Mom died. We all felt her sweetness, her special light when she came.
Kris was so afraid that she wouldn't like her, that she wouldn't want to spend time with her--clearly, she didn't need to worry.
This girl doesn't need to speak to tell us she loves her Auntie Kris.
Sometimes she just amazes me.
She loves looking at my mom's pictures. She'll hold them and kiss them and I feel like she is remembering her.
When Kris came, she picked up Mom's picture and pointed at Kris. Then another time she took Mom's picture and pointed to Kris and then to my brother on his Christmas card and back to mom.
After I took these pictures of the two of them she pointed to me and said, My mom. Then she patted Kris and said, Mama. Which is what she calls her grandma Kathy.
