Giving

Sydney has kind of had a weird issue with gifts this year. She totally gets that the big guy is going to come see her... she's asked for a Barbie home and a Barbie boy. But when her poor brother mentioned that he was going to get her a gift she kind of lost it on him. She cried and yelled and told him- no that Santa was going to bring her a Barbie home.
So, to help her understand that we give things to others and it's fun I thought she better go shopping. So, I asked her if she would like to buy Grandma a Christmas gift. She kind of confused said that yes she would. Then I took her into her room and we took a few coins from her piggy bank. This made her so excited! She couldn't wait to go shop. So, we went to the dollar store with her 3$ so she could get a gift for Grandma, Grandpa, and Papa. But as soon as we started shopping she started to name other family members, like her aunt Becky and her Aunt Kris. She yelled Buck! and Buck's puppy. And then she signed: girl cousin. So I said, "Eryn?" She said yes and then signed: girl cousin's sister. Haha. Pretty soon she had named almost everyone we'd see Saturday for the Bell party. When she'd find something she liked, I'd tell her: "Remember, we're here to buy gifts for our family." and she was fine! It was such a fun time. We spent quite a bit more than her 3$. Then we came home and wrapped up all her gifts. She is so excited to give them away.
